Hey everyone!

As the title states I keep getting a CTF ERROR every time I try to delete a custom tune off my X4. The only solution I am seeing is to do a factory reset and that does not make sense, there has got to be another way to fix this problem. This problem has been going on for a while and I am sure that SCT is aware of it so has anyone heard of another solution? Anything at all? I really would like to add more tunes to my X4.

Thanks,

ShoHarD

Call SCT - they are VERY helpful! They will either help you over the phone, or they will connect into your computer while the SCT is connected to it and fix it for you.

My SCT X3 (for my Superduty) was out of warranty, bought used from 5-star Tuning, and I tried updating the firmware in it and basically bricked it. They fixed it for me online by remoting into my laptop.

Guess it depends on who you get on the phone. I had an opposite miserable experience with them. He spent the whole time telling me that my vehicle wasn't supported and he wouldn't help. After considerable effort and pleading, I got him to research further and he found that my vehicle was supported. No apology for the run around. Just more blaming me and/or my tuners for something that is clearly a defect with their unit. Maybe he was having a bad day, but never take it out on the customer.

He had me connect the programmer to the computer and go through all the steps. Said he would call back shortly to let me know what he found. That was 14 days ago.

In case you're wondering why I called...regardless of which tune I'm trying to flash the car with (even when going back to stock), the car runs the defrost on high fan speed during the entire flash. Worried it will drain the battery and brick my car. Then, once flashed, my car reads that I have zero gas in the tank until I do several on/off cycles. It's clearly an issue with the SCT x4 device, but he just wanted to get me off the phone and continued to deny any responsibility.

I had this exact issue with my car using the x4 and fixed it yesterday. I called sct and spoke to them and they were convinced it was my pc that was messed up which turned out to be completely false. What I did was returned the car to stock, did a factory reset, updated the device, then finally reinstalled the tunes I wanted. Before all of this I couldn't load or delete any files on updater but all is well now

My problem was NOT solved and they have NOT called back. Good luck with your call on Friday.

Defrost runs on high vent during the flash and the gas gauge reads zero fuel after the flash.

I'm just going to let it be. Several others on EBPF chimed in that their's does or has done the same thing. Just a strange glitch I suppose. No real harm is done, it's just an annoyance and a bit of a fear of the battery draining during the flash.

With the "service" I received from SCT, I will just not call them again and just remember this the next time I have a choice in tuning devices.

Did SCT take good care of you and figure out a way to avoid a factory reset?

Just was thinking about this thread yesterday while my car attempted to drain the battery by running the defrost on high during a flash.

I was also having this issue. Returned to stock ,did a factory reset and update.
All is well now.

Yeah that is what I had to do. It seems like with so many people having this same problem they would have fixed it or at least send out a email to all that have called and let us know they are working on it. It is a real hassle to reset and then reinstall the tunes, I have never had a problem like this with other tuners. I hope that SCT gets on here and rectifies this problem or I might leave them a negative comment.

After the reset, There was like 220+ downloads to put back on the x4.
It took quite awhile to finish
