Can a LPM chip be tuned with an SCT tuner?

Sounds like a stupid question but i cant find Sh*t for info out that is about the LPM and what exactly it is or how it works VS the SCT style tuning. This is most likely a rather stupid question.

Let the shit storm begin :rainshit:

No. I think there are only two people in the US that have the rights to tuning the LPM. You have to tell them how you want it tuned. It overwrites the ROM of the computer. Thats why you get a 511 code from the ECU when you take codes with the LPM installed.

SCT does not work with Gens one and two. Our old Tauruses use OBD 1.

Im aware they are OBD 1. I know just enough about to Re wire the whole system due to EEC-VI book that Robert Bentley wrote( that man is my idle).
But the Chips it self will work with out cars. i know this for a fact. My bother is running a chip on his 93 Mark viii. We simply can not use the tunning function of SCT correct? But if we want changes to code on the chip we have to "mail order tune" it correct? What im getting at is if i want my car Dyno tunned and i have an SCT chip all i have to do is remove the chip each time and have them plug it in and edit it and go from there correct?
:thankyou: Sorry for all the questions.

Be feeling like a dam post whore here this week with all the crap ive been having to do to this car.

I don't know a whole lot about tuning. I have a LPM I sent to ShoSource to be tuned. I was under the impression that SCT did not work with OBD 1. But I could be wrong. I just never heard of many older cars using SCT. I hear Tweecer is the way to go with custom tuning. I would like to learn more on the subject as well.

LOL. all i ever hear is twEECer. The issue is i have NO experience with tuning and none the less with one of the most complicated tuners around from what i can tell. Id love to have someone teach and tune my car form me but one no around us Mid Missourians knows anything. But i know quite a few people who can do SCT tuning( the TUNING will not work with us) so i was wonder if i can simply use the Chips and have them remotely tune by removing them and hooking it up to computer and burning a fresh tune each time i want to change it. A lot of work i know but it would be way more affordable because my brother would be able to utilize it to with his Mark(he is already running a SCT chip tuned by Lonnie at Blue Oval Chips).

So can i use an SCT chip and just burn new tunes to each time i want to edit it? and will most places that offer Dyno tuning(with SCT of course) have the ability to do that and get me into a ball park for me to start to understand how it works?

this is not true. SCT has a chip that can be used on the obd1 for the Gen1 and Gen2 SHO.

But it doesnt not allow for the SCT tuning gadgets, sadly. So every time you wish to change the tune you have to remove the chip and burn a new tune to it. Running a chip from SCT is MUCH like and LPM but you have access to the editing software, from what i can tell.

well, you can have access to the editing software, if you have the ProRacer s/w or if you have their professional software, and if you have a prom burner to put it in the chip.

and it does not allow access by all the cool SCT gadgets. but it does allow an alternative to the tweecer if one wants that.

Would most shops that offers Dyno tuning be able to tune an SCT chip this way??

it depends on which tuning software they specialize in - most dyno shops have a preferred software vendor, so you may have to call a few to find one that does SCT. if they do SCT, unless they only do odb2, they will be able to write a tune.

now, if they have a clue what they are doing to the SHO tune, that is a whole 'nuther question.....
