I spent a few hours today trying to figure out what was causing this high rpm misfire I had. The CEL wasn't illuminated, but I see now I should've ran the codes.

I tried changing the DIS, I put in new plugs. I thought my plugs and wires were going bad. About an hour ago I changed the coil back to stock and it went away. It had 30k miles on it and it was three years old.

It only happened at high rpm under load. It wouldn't keep misfiring, it would usually stumble once. I never drove a car that misfired like this.

The only reason I bought it was because I read on here that coils are like transformers and they get weak over time. It also got good reviews. I'm going to enjoy using it for target practice after today.

I have had similar problems with several other aftermarket coils manufactured for the SHO's. Yet, I have stock coils with over 200k and zero problems. Obviously there is something different in the construction/build quality.

Thanks for your helpful post!

I believe the aftermarket coils will run a smaller wire to wrap and make the coils, however this does work better for making a higher voltage and bigger spark it wears out much faster compared to the stock coils.
