Sachs struts

I saw "Sachs" super-gas struts on www.shox.com and I've never heard of them. They look to be fairly upscale. Anyone have these on their car? Are they any better than stock? I was wondering how they would perform on a slightly lowered car with stiffer springs.

I installed them on a SHO I just sold. My bro installed those on his SHO too. Supposedly they are equivalent to what Ford installed at the factory I believe. I personally loved them. They seem to have a progressive rate to them, and they get harder to compress every time you try.

I called the guy at shox.com and he actually was pretty knoledgable(sp) about the SHO. He told me that some one from SHOSHOP had bought a set and they said that they had sucked??!! So he recomended I get the KYBs. I plan on lowering my car soon and since I barely drive my car, I won't have to worry about how long the KYBs will last. If you are interested, give them a call. They have good prices on a lot of things...

Ok, thanks for the info. It sounds like they are comparable to stock. I think I'll just wait and get the Koni inserts. Anyone know what www.shox.com charges for inserts?

Sach, KYB, and Motor craft are near worthless for performance once you get new springs. They can't handle the workload. Koni or ToKiko are about the only real options on performance unless someone else has come out, wish Tien or someone like that would have done something for the small Taurus lover group in Japan. They never got the SHO but even back 7 years ago now they had lower GL Wagons and all running around.

Koni used to sell for $499 on the low end. That was a while ago I think I saw them more recently for around $530??? Why not have shox shoot you a quote and let us know what they're running? Maybe you can find a Canadian supplier cheaper? Not sure how that stuff works.

I'm not quite ready to buy yet. I need to make some measurements to see if the Koni inserts will fit the strut housings on my Topaz. But when the time comes, I'll get a quote from shox.com and from a Canadian supplier and see who has the best deal. I'll post the results if/when it happens.
