ive been looking through used superchargers for sale, wondering what specs i need to look for.

From what ive read through the forums and vortech websites i need something CCW (counter clock wise), and either a v1 T or S trim.

What about the v2? what about the other brands such as procharger and paxton.

Thanks

Prochargers are good too, while you may go a little out of the way finding/fabbing a bracket, you wont have to run any oil lines.

Any CCW V1 or V2 should work. Mine is a V2. The v3 IIRC should bolt to any v1-2 bracket. So it should work . Its a self-contained vortech unit.

Yea there are a few procharger p600b brackets out there. But this one uses oil lines/return. Dont see to many of them, the P1SC is alot more common

Well, just because it can bolt up doesn't mean it can work like the V1/V2's, you might run into issues with the pulley lining up with the drive belt. I mean, it's not a big deal if you have something to mill down the bracket bolt up locations or insert spacers, depending which way you need to go with it. It's just something to consider, and getting the perfect line up.

Edit: You might be able to address the problem with shims on the s/c shaft for the pulley, and mill the pulley down some, if needed. I'd start with a cheap, typical pulley.

Question: What is the difference between the V-1 and V-2 Vortech Head Units?
Answer: The main difference between the two systems is that the V-2 (version 2) SQ (super-quiet) has helical cut internal gears that produce virtually no supercharger noise. Performance, size, price and other attributes are identical between the two head units.

i also read that the helical (quiet) cut gears can rev higher, is that true?

i want to go with somethin that can rev high and pushes alot of boost.

Justin had the idea of puttin on a small pulley so that i could get to 8psi fast and use a pop off to regulate it.

I have a V2 and it definitely has some noise to it. I use a pop-off valve to vent boost around 14 PSI. There are some trade-offs, but is certainly doable.

It gets louder as the idle slows.

Just go with a s-trim. More common(cheaper) and can't really go past 12 psi on stock internal anyways. Sounds like u want a t-trim though. there an S-trim for sale by me. I'm thinking bout picking it up since I have stuff for another:nuts: PM if you want the link

And yea I still wanna get a 3.2 pulley and have 10 Psi by 5k:evilgrin: I should trade my 3.4 ultra grip pulley for a 3.33 or 3.2.

Jason..urs was new wasn't it? Did ur's get louder after a while???? Mine seems louder now, not as high pitched, but louder overall. Did u notice this too????

Yes, I bought mine new. I remember it being really loud when I first started it. I thought something might have been wrong. When going from a 3.6" pulley to a 3.2" pulley, it did quiet down. I then lowered the idle to 900 RPM and the noise got loud again. I have since raised the idle back to 1144 RPM as it was a little louder than I liked and it drowned out the exhaust at idle.

running 16 psi on my s trim. PSI is relative to flow anyway. Volume is what you want. More CFMs the better. Only reason I havent' gone to T trim is the tranny gears. Once we have 10 people for the NTP gears I'm upgrading to T-trim with my 2.87 pulley.

I also haven't put my 2.87 on because I don't want to genade my supercharge. Want to put that sc eventually on my daily. :dribble:

doesn't matter on sound of SC. Most car guys can detech a vortech a mile away.

How much louder is a V-1 T Trim compared to a V-2? I'm trying to decide on a supercharger as well.

I think they sound pretty good. So does vortech make a supercharger for the SHO or is there a ton of mods to do to the supercharger to get it to work with our motors?

You need the SHO Shop mounting bracket, this will allow you to mount up the S/C'r and align with the accessory belt. Vortech doesn't make a kit for the SHO, we just use their S/C'r. A lot of S/C'r information can be found if you search the SHOForum, and actually recommended if you're seriously considering to S/C your SHO. NTP and FPS both sell S/C'r kits, and both are different styles. I don't recall the FPS site, but here's NTP: www.northtexasperformance.com
