Hard to see on there site on how they work around the flow sensor, so you won't get a check
engine light.

UPR's instructions are limited, but their product is quality. Bought my '17 SHO new and installed their catch can a few months into ownership - no issues or CELs (knock on wood).

Just wrapped up an install of the same UPR catch can on my buddy's new Explorer Sport last night and it is pretty straightforward in terms of all the connections (only challenging part is adjusting the bracket/positioning to minimize hose kinking).

That said, the above-linked RXP system looks awesome. They didn't have a complete SHO-specific kit when I was shopping for a catch can and I didn't want something generic that required a lot of trial & error to fit, which is why I went with UPR. An extra benefit was that if I ever needed to remove it in a pinch for warranty work, I can revert back to stock in a few minutes.

In any case, bookmarked for future reference. Once past warranty and if I get into making some more power, can see myself switching to the more complete RXP system.

Does the secondary rxp catch can fit with the stock intake? Looking to get a catch can as well but in the photo on their website it shows the secondary can mounted right where the airbox sits (or at least appears that way to me).

I literally have the UPR CC sitting in my garage.. There are two different models.. one for the 2010-2014 that replaces all the stock PCV lines. If you have a 2015+ you will need to have the code for that sensor tuned out or you will through a CEL as it removes the sensor. The 2015+ kit is not as good but retains the stock line so you don't have to remove the sensor...

I thought catch cans were useless on 13+

How do you know the UPR is just as effective as the RXP? I like how the RXP allows clean side separation as well but its my understanding that this isn't really possible once you start throwing "high hp" numbers. My question is why UPR caps off the CSS and RXP uses one?

Yeah i just saw that they offer it for the f150, that one fits i take it? It also looks to me like it drops all that back into your oil rather than a separate smaller CC for it?

This is the exact kit that I have. I have the check valves and everything.

Does the RXP work better? I don't know, I haven't done a direct comparison. I went with the URP because, like you, I did my research and they all pointed to UPR for my needs.

So why is it that the pictures show a CSS insert and not a CSS? also, it looks like you had to buy a piece of 1/4 hose to go from the CSS to the WOT vacuum line? Mind posting a pic of your setup when you have a sec? I like the design of the RPX but the old reviews I read are pretty rough and I can't really find any from recent years

It looks exactly like what is in the pictures form the UPR kit. That could literally be my motor.

From UPR:

The Clean Side Separator (CSS) needs to be installed, but first we must cap off the front PCV port. The CSS allows the engine to breathe through the oil fill neck, so the PCV port is not needed. Use the supplied capped fitting and connect it to the PCV port on the front valve cover.

From Me:

The CSS insert has mesh and filter media to keep the air from the crankcase clean (while acting like a crackcase vent) where it joins with the clean intake air their way to the CC. The oil caught in the CSS reforms and empties back into the engine, not needing another can because it has not been contaminated.

I see, so the RPX kit is more work then because you have to drain two of them, now the only real benefit i see in the RPX is the ability to remove the cover and fill oil without the "tedious" process of removing the CSS lol, thanks!

The CSS insert is literally just a big oil cap. It isn't hard to remove at all. Super easy, barely an inconvenience.

Based on these results I would hands down absolutely go RXP over UPR if I were in the market for a catch can. My stubbornness is wearing off, so who knows maybe I’ll end up being the first guinea pig

I read it here, post #37: https://themustangsource.com/forums/f726/oil-catch-can-comparison-test-results-531966/index2/

Yeah I know, no credible source for the report and whatnot. But do take not of how the author even subsequently upgraded their UPR and It still allowed more oil to pass through than it collected. Here’s the text so you don’t have to sift through the other forum BS-

-oops it exceeds this forum’s character limit so you’ll have to follow the link

edit: found the original thread. First link is still good though as all the info is condensed into that one post. https://www.f150forum.com/f70/5-0-upr-vs-rx-catch-can-effectiveness-test-254381/index3/

I'll have to look into this, after all the research and discussion the last few days i decided the RXP vs the UPR is like Ray bans vs Oakley, id rsther pay a few hundred less for something that does 90% as good
