the point is you have to do the math.

if you used the 1/2" adapter and a 1/2" spacer on the flywheel and then bolted up the SHO transmission to the adapter and plugged in the starter, it would all line up, but of course you are not going to use the adapter to bolt up the SHO trans, you are using a different trans, so you have to figure out where (front to back) the "new" trans located the starter pinion relative to the ring gear however you got it mounted.
