Rust proofing

What is the best rust proofing solutions for a vehicle? is it even good to do to a car? Also i have a 1999 ford v8 sho that is in mint condition no rust or cancer spots the trunk door even looks like new everything is just beautiful i wanna keep it just the way it is any suggestions?

That salt up there is a killer. There are tar based undercarriage sprays and also oil based sprays. There is a place where the brakelines run together under one of the sides of the car towards the rear that rust all the way out on 96-99 cars. So you want to get the bottom of the doors from the inside (drain holes) the whole under body and the wheel wells with the liners pulled out. Just think of where you see rust in alot of local cars and make sure to treat that. The only effective barriers are usually oil or petroleum based products.

It fr is i have a 2002 gmc sonoma 2.2l darn thing wont quit runs good too! just alot of rust is all, also it does have like 300k thank you for that also i appreciate all the information i can get. I wanna keep it original an clean i plan for this to be my summer car actually

That's the way to keep it rust free! It is made better than the 89-95 SHOs as far as rust but I still see the 96-99 rust belt cars chewed up. If you don't treat them and keep them long enough nature is undefeated. I grew up on the great lakes and now in va-- I only buy non rust belt cars. I bled and busted my hands on untold amounts of rusted fasteners under those cars. No more!!
