Went out this morning and saw a some wetness on the pavement under the front of the engine, saw that the dripping was forming off of the oil pan. Water pump? If the water pump leaks and shorts out the CPS will that keep the fuel pump from turning on as well? Or separate problems entirely?

Water pump is only a little more than a year old. Went with a lifetime warranty.

i now suspect the ccrm.

if the crank sensor goes bad, it does not affect the fuel supply, only spark.

Grrrrrrrr. So defiantly sounds like multiple problems. Looks like I've got a water pump going out, coincidentally at the same time as the CCRM going out.

Water pump would explain the higher than normal operating temperature lately, and the coolant drip near crank pulley and on the oil pan.
CCRM intermittently failing could explain no fuel pressure when it dies even after a new fuel pump.

Only way to diagnose the CCRM fuel pump relay failing is to catch it in the act right? Wait for the fuel pump to fail again, turn key back and forth and listen for the relay click, whack it with a hammer till it works?

Replacing the water pump requires pulling off timing belt, crank pulley, upper, middle, and lower covers etc right?

Just a giant buzzkill in that how it acts when it fails mimics the cps frying out from a leaking water pump. I don't have the money to throw parts at it. I love the prospect that as soon as I replace the CCRM the problem could come back as a CPS if I don't fix that problem as well.
