I give up- how do you get the black wire canister off the door and/or run new wires into the front doors? I tried taking off the nut on top of the canister, prying, messing around, and I can't figure it out. The canister is harder to get into than my locked car! Maybe I'm just dense. :nut:

Thanx

They way I did it was take a coat hanger cut a striaght section of it off, wrap the wire(tape aswell) around the end and cut a small hole in the black tubing and push it through.

What canister are you refering to?

If youre trying to run new speaker wires tot he front, use a flat head screwdriver to pry the black rubber tube in the bottom half of the door. You can use needle nose pliers to catch the wire on the other side, or use shotastic's suggestion.
hope that helps

That canister on the front drivers door is not just an empty can. It is actually a large wire connector. The nut on top holds the connector together. Just get some loom and run the speaker wire inside of that.

Got it...

Thanks guys- I just pulled a section of the rubber grommet out from the door frame and ran the wire along the hose to a small opening below the can on the door- all is well, I'll make it look pretty later- guess there really is no way to get a wire from the doorframe to the door through the hose/canister thingee?Thanx!

Not unless you can get the connector open, and find some empty or unused pins that you can use. More work then its worth, and you'll have a break in the wiring to your speaker, which won't help with the sound quality...

personally, i dont mind paying a professional 60 bucks to wire a car for speakers... i mean, i know my way around electronics, but IMO why take a risk

Why take what risk? When you're adding wiring for speakers, thats all you're doing, adding wiring. You should have no reason to touch the factory wiring, if all you are doing is adding in heavier wiring for upgraded speakers.

Old wiring was junk

in my front left. I troubleshot for 2 hours with different radios, harnesses, speakers, and it was a break in the factory wiring somewhere that was keeping sound from the left front, so I had no choice but to replace the wiring. If there was no break, I would have used the stock wiring, no problem...
