find a Lincoln dealer - nearly all of their vehicles have that, so they actually know about it...

The only thing you can do is just tell them to use a suction gun through the fill cap to get the most they can out and refill. If they refuse then like others said, find another shop or do it yourself. I did it myself and I enjoyed the experience and now I can do it in an hour or less.

What was the procedure for doing it on the ptu in the front and what tools did you use if you don't mind me asking....the car has 68,000 and I want to get it done I'll end up just doing it myself what's the weight oil that goes in it as well thank you so much for your help

I live in South Eastern PA and I found an amazing dealer who will service it. Ford says it is "unserviceable" because they tested the fluid and it lasts more than 100k so they assume everyone is so lucky. You want to change every 30-40k if you drive it hard.

Let me know if you want my contact in PA.

9" wobble extension was great for getting around O2 sensor, think 2 6" extensions are also needed (maybe I used 2 3" though)...plug has a 3/8" square that the extensions fit right in. Also need a pump to extract and a pump that you can screw onto new fluid bottle to pump back in. Use the extractor pump that has the smallest diameter tubing and cut to size for better flow. Takes some patience if using one of the cheap pumps. Make sure car is level when filling.

i had got my dealer to quote the Tranny PTU and the RDU. was quoted prices for each then got the call they have to drop tranny for ptu (no go). The only options i can find besides finding a independent shop to do it is doing it myself or finding a local dealerfor BG driveline service or atleast on the ptu but it appears they only use there own oil to replace. anyone used bg service centers?

Old thread but seems like a good place to ask this question: The last time I changed my PTU fluid, I used a cheap siphon thingy that was basically a squeeze bulb with hoses attached to it. It worked but was very slow. I want a better tool for this but not something big and bulky. What are others using?

SHO PTU 001 Well, I just changed the oil on my 2015 SHO and was looking around for the drain plug for the PTU and here is what I found. I was laying on my back looking straight up when I took this pic. It looks like a drain plug and a fill plug up a ways. I am not sure about these plugs so has anyone else seen these plugs and are they for the PTU ??

Looks like you MIGHT be looking at the trans drain plug? Does your SHO have the performance package? Then the PTU will have a separate drain plug, otherwise only a fill plug like most of the rest of us.

No, and I looked for a drain plug on the passenger side of the PTU and nothing. The PTU looks to be a one piece cast housing? Someone posted a pic of a PTU that had a temp sensor he removed to use as a place to refill the PTU unit and I don't have that either?

The temp sensor is only on the PP-equipped SHOs & the Interceptors, because the PTU is a cooled & monitored unit in those vehicles. So you too should only have the fill plug on the side of the PTU (vertical surface of the unit). I'm not sure if it is a one piece housing or not, but it certainly looks like it is. The trans can be cracked into 2 halves, so the trans is at least a 2piece unit.
