This is my first post on this site as i just bought my 1989 Taurus SHO one week ago. My question has many possible answers and i understand that.
Allow me to elaborate. When I put the car in first gear, and release the clutch normally the car seems to chug the power instead of applying it smoothly.
Cleaned the MAF and put in a new air filter. That didnt quite do the trick. my next step will be a fuel filter and injector cleaner. I've tried to check for vaccum leaks but my knowledge of all the vaccum systems is still limited. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated as I am very excited to finnaly own an SHO.
Thanks to all who reply.

That sounds like a good idea since the butterflies open at about 4K. Usually when acelleration is chuggy, it's dirty fuel injectors. Use the ultra concentrated stuff, then put it on the highway to run it thru its veins. I do that every month and it seems to work.

Hmm.

Seems like plugs and wires would be on the very top of my list.

As for the chugging...try that with the hood up so you can see if the motor is flopping around from torn mounts. Also check the distance from the corner of the DIS to the strut tower. You should have no problem getting a finger between the two.
