Is there anyone else out there that go through front rotors every three months? Whether I get a good pair of rotors or get a pair from AutoZone or Murray's, it seems that I'm having to change them every 3 months. Any suggestions, Why?

Its probably a combination of your driving style with the little brakes up front, if you still have the stock '93 calipers....

Ive got nearly 2 years and 30k miles on a set of rotors AND pads right now. And no, no granny driving here :finger:

They are almost due (pads) and the rotors are getting thin, but they are straight and true still. Ive got a set of pads and rotors on the shelf in the garage... when I pick up a set of SS brake lines Ill give the SHO some new brakes :D

See if your brake pedal is returning to the top when you step on the brake. A sticking brake booster is pretty common and will cause rapid wear of the brakes. Ford never did a recall. You can rig a spring up to the pedal or replace the entire booster to eliminate the problem.

I know that was my problem, or think it was. I have been going through rotors like crazy. I had new calipers put in feb. And just last week had to get them replaced. between the two sets of cailpers i went throug 4 pairs of rotors. I set being ceramic pads and an upgraded rotor. These were from midas. So they wouldnt warrenty my brakes unless i got new lines. so i got new lines, and hopefully that fixes the problem. i had noticed that the brakes did stick a little, so you might want to check in to some new brake lines. Thats my 02. good luck!

Thats another problem i thought i had. but they didnt check my calipers after they took them off. But the driver side caliper piston was moving, and if its moving thats not good. might want to check that also. The pins, and the pistons.

Are the slide pins, sliding?

The front brakes for the '93 atx do not have slider pins. Its a one piece caliper set up, no caliper bracket. The caliper piston is the only moving item....

from Auto-Zone and through experience: if you purchase the 1 yr warranty pads, use them with the 3 month warranty rotors. use the LLT pads with the 2 yr warranty. the quality of pads and rotors vary, so if you buy the cheap pads, buy the cheap rotors. combining 1 yr pads with 2 yr rotors will cause the pad to wear at a more progressive rate. use the 3 month rotors with LLT pads and the pads will chew the rotor up.

From '94-'99, the front brakes uses caliper brackets, they must have hired a genius engineer probably late '93. Ford should have done that with the '89-'93s.

Well, assuming this is the case for my 93 ATX, I don't feel like a newbie after all. Cuz, man, I've been staring at the front calipers too many times trying to figure out what in the heck are slider pins.

And I guess you need two people to check and see if the piston(s) are moving as they should?

The brake pads I use are Bosch!

The slider pins are covered with rubber boots. The slider pins connects the caliper onto the caliper bracket, this allows the pads/calipers to "float" back in the rest position when the brake pedal is not being applied....

Oh, and why this brand?

Do you bed them in?

P, do you have a recommended bedding procedure? I've used the one from Baer's website, but man is it tedious. It's a two week process

Thanks.

Bedding?

...Caliper Bolts is what holds the caliper to the caliper brackets on the 93ATX. Are caliper bolts the same thing as slider pins?
