I found a SHO with a lower end knock. I figure doing bearings would be no problem since I found them on a few sites.

But how available are cranks, pistons and connecting rods if they are messed up? I haven't been able to find any on the internet.

Rod bearings and still available in all sizes. Mains are discontinued in STD size but some sets are still around. Thrust washers discontinued. Crankshaft,rods and pistons are not available new anymore and have to be sourced from good used motors.
