rod knock n smoke!!!!!!!!!!!!

yea the oil pressure is dropping n i,m sure the bearings are on the way out.but why the **** would it start smoking out the exhaust,not all the time but intermintently???? i did change the thermostat and cleaned the IAC.it wasn,t stuck n was fairly clean,also sprayed the MAF sensor too. Any suggestions or idea

I thought you posted before and we all told you to do the rod bearings?

most likely your front main seal causing it to drip down onto the exhaust, jack it up and see were its leaking from

and as stated get the RB's done ASAP, before your up for a motor swap

hey guys i know i gotta put bearings in it,that happens soon as i finish pulling ,rebuilding and installing the tranny in the brown 91!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!i just wonder if any one had one smoke like this? started outa theblue, i wasn,t beating on the motor n am pretty easy on her.its not dripping or leaking oil,it is burning n coming ouit of the exhaust,but the weird thing is it,s mostly on startup n intermintent n ohhh by the way i,ve got my ASE certs in 1980 n have built more than a few rods n muscle cars,i think i know what a a rod knock sounds by now

i have the same problem minus the knock. on start up itll shoot a little smoke very rarely. and if im just at idle for a little bid and i give it a little burp in throttle ill look out the mirror and see some smoke. very intermitten and does not happen very often. i did a front and top 60k and its gotten MUCH better..

your smoke sounds like valve stem seals,mine is a little more severe,but thanks for the input

sounds like to me its the valve stem seals going if its only on start up and at long idles it sounds like em
only other thing it might be is the oil rings on the pistons but they smoke alot more
maybe ur getting alot of oil vapor through the vent tube on the valve cover
hope this helps im leaning to the stem seals my self

ya i figured ut was that and i can live with a little smok every once and a while in stead of having to do about a 13-15? hour job to get them off and back on.. if i remeber right.
