RockAuto Crankshaft sensor availability! Maybe???

Just checked (again) on the availability of crank sensors for '89-95 SHOs at my favorite parts store. Guess what? A Walker part #2351426 is NOW LISTED (but out of stock). I requested 10 of the buggers. At least they are now listed...maybe there is hope... I've checked under ignition parts before, but there was no listing.

Now if EVERYONE that owns an -89-95 SHO (I have seven including, two parts cars) puts in a request for this part it might finally entice manufacture of this long gone part...(I'm actually in desperate need of just one crank sensor at this time.)

I had an 89 and i replaced it with an oem one from the ford dealer. Costly but never had the issue again. Probably 30k miles on it after that till i parked it for good. I learned from 80s-90s gm’s to only buy oem sensors, spend more but lots of companys get the part info to make them and they are just crap for non oem

OEM Crank Sensors are long obsolete. They have not been available for years. The aftermarket sensors which I've never had a problem with dried up early last year. Right now there is zero availability for SHO crank sensors.

Oh ok. It was 6 years or so anyway. If they are flawed then the oem ones will still be flawed years later if new ones are found

ebay is the best bet. It took months of watching, but I snagged a NOS Motorcraft from a seller out of Puerto Rico of all places. Cost me a fortune, but still less than a day of my time scrounging at a junkyard. A Wells sensor lasted 100K miles before it started acting up when hot, possibly due to to a weeping water pump. The pump was replaced, and the original OEM sensor, with 150K, was put back on, because I hadn't found a new sensor yet.

So excuse me if this is a dumb question, but when I looked on Rock Auto for 92 through '94 3.0L DOHC it has the 2351426 p/n, but when I look up '95 3.0L DOHC it has 2351130 p/n, which is same as SLO 3.0L sensor. Is the '95 3.0L crank sensor really different from other Gen 2? I've never changed the sensor on my '95 and I wasn't paying attention to the sensor when I changed the timing belt a while back...
OR - is this another example, like the A/C compressor and hoses, where the catalogs are just plain wrong for '95 SHO MTX?

All years are the same sensor. ATX or MTX. Rockauto has the part# listed wrong.
The correct part # is 2351426.

I think Walker may be interested in producing some more so they listed it and now they're waiting to see how much interest they get from people looking to buy one. I put myself down on rockauto to notify me when it's available. If everyone here that has a gen 1 or 2 put in for notification when part is available, it may raise some eyebrows to those producing it. Sure is worth a try.

Wouldn't you know.. It is no longer listed at all..

So just saw this listed on ebay. This looks very similar to what we need. I could be way off though. It looks like the same part is on the summit racing website under standard motor products part number pc10

It's similar, but I think someone tried and failed to make this ranger version work. It's in a post somewhere about a year ago.

The Thunderbird S/C 89-93 is the same sensor but with shorter wiring. Those went out of stock everywhere a few months before the SHO sensor did though, also leaving S/C owners up the creek.

RockAuto did get one of the correct sensor back in stock a few months ago; I reported it here and someone bought it within the hour. I have a used 80k OEM sensor for those in an emergency.

The supercoupe sensor is shorter in length and has a different pigtail. Splicing on a sho pigtail would correct both issues.

I was doing more research and found a Standard Motor Products PC10 crankshaft sensor (UPC: 091769097134) that looks like the SHO's sensor but it's for a 1991-1993 ford mustang and 1989-1994 Ford ranger and 1994 Mazda B2300 that uses a 2.3L L4 Gas SOHC engine

would this work for the SHO or is this wired differently?

That one wont work. But go to supercoupeperformance.com and they have them that they made and work they are 200 bucks though.

Compared side by side you will see that they are not the same. The Ranger uses a dual vane ring where the SHO uses a single.

I was checking out that website, it was the 1st batch that needed a little filing but the 2nd batch has been updated/fixed

seems like getting a new sensor from SC performance or a used one if lucky to find is the only potions now
