As I promised their customer service rep, I'm letting a few hundred of my friends know what's gone on...please bear in mind that this is the first time I have dealt with this company...

I ordered a CV halfshaft for my SHO wednesday evening, admittedly late in the evening, and paid almost $50 for overnight shipping. I did read their statements regarding allowing "24 hours for the order to be processed", which is reasonable, would have taken us to friday morning to be shipped out. Called to confirm my order and was told the part would be at my home saturday afternoon at the latest. I presumed since both the USPS and FedEx were both running Saturday this would not be a problem.

Saturday evening arrives and no part. Tried to call their customer service line, they are closed. Call Sunday morning, and when I explained that I had paid for overnight (1 Day) shipping the CSR was, to say the least, clueless. After asking to be transferred to a supervisor, and having to go through this again, I was told by this alleged supervisor "we didn't break the car..." (Well, NO S***!) I was promised delivery would be today (5/26) and that I would have refund in the difference in shipping costs (1 day express versus 3-5 day express)

Today, no part arrives, and I find that the wrong part was sent to fedex (according to rockauto's website) and that the proper part was picked up and is now in transit. In the meantime, my card has now been hit twice for this part, which in my mind is now two days overdue. This also leaves my account overdrawn for the time being. I was also told that this process (whatever is going on) was discussed with me at 2 this afternoon, which frankly is news to me...

Going to close with I am sure some of you have dealt with them before and have had a good experience with them, and if so, great! Just sharing my not so good experience with them, and wishing I was sharing the opposite...

They're ok if you can wait on a part and stomach an occasional screw up. I had a heck of a time with small suspension parts from them and return shipping ate up all the savings I thought I would have. Other orders were perfect. I always go local for small stuff or time sensitive repair items so I can return it in person if it's the wrong part. That said, I did just order 4 struts from them, I messed up my online order, and had them fix it by phone this morning. I hope the right parts get to my door the first time.

Hey it happens and its not only Rock Auto.

I once order a gun case, paid over night express to be flown out of Nevada. It took three weeks to get here. But then again I did order it on 9/10/2001..

I've ordered from RockAuto at least 50 times, and never had any issues up until one a few weeks ago with some parts I ordered for my sister's Caravan. They shipped via FedEx Ground (which before then every single order had been UPS Ground), and marked it signature required which pooched me because nobody is at the shop until 10AM and they were there to deliver at 9AM.

It was frustrating at the time because it caused a bit of a scheduling mess, but shit happens and that's not going to stop me from ordering from them again (and I have a couple times since already).

I did get a $20 credit for the shipping trouble when I called customer service. I was polite, they were polite, and they've since resolved the issue with FedEx ground orders being marked as signature required.

Mail ordering car parts to be shipped overnight -- from anyone -- is usually not a good idea. You probably could have gone to your local AutoZone or NAPA, not paid a penny for shipping, and still had the part the next day. We get 90% of our parts locally most of the time, and the other 10% we mail order when there is either no time constraints or we know that there will be enough of a cushion in case of mixups or delays.

It's unfortunate that you're having a bad experience with them. I'm confident that in the end everything will work out, but I can see how frustrating it can be for you right now.

Never ever ever had a problem with RockAuto and I order most things through them. If I need something ASAP, I go to a store. Rockauto is great when you are planning a job and gathering parts. Saved over 300 bucks on suspension parts.

It appears I learned this lesson the hard way...

I am happy to report that I did receive the part today and that it is the correct one. I also have received my money back for the shipping (they seem to have ate the shipping costs) and I got a call from a supervisor to ensure that the part is what i ordered, am I satisfied, etc...

Not entirely sure about ordering from these guys again at this point, but I have to give credit where credit is due, and it seems as though they are trying at least to keep my business.

Now I can go back to what I had planned, just have to get the truck at work fixed and off the lift.

Although I've had some parts mistakes with them, I've never had it go unresolved and they were pretty quick to fix anything that was in their control. That goes a long way with me.

Great prices and they take care of issues with quick communication. Can't ask for more than that! Everybody's bound to mistakes, it's how they handle them that is the breaking point. Glad you got your stuff
