Will a 17x8 inch wheel with an offset of 40 fit my gen 1 MTX. It fit a 93 perfectly. They have bridgestone potenza RE70 235/45/17 tires on them. PLEASE TELL ME THEY WILL FIT! thumbs_u

They will, but if you have saggy rear springs you will experience some rubbing.

Probably not without some fender trimming. There is only one way to find out....

I think they'll fit. I'm running the same size wheel and tire on my '93. I should throw them on my '90 and see if they rub in the back.

As for sagging springs causing rubbing. I just went through this discussion on SHOtimes. Sagging springs will not cause the tires to rub. If the width and offset of the wheel is such that it causes the tires to rub, they'll rub regardless of the condition of your springs. If you have sagging springs, or a lowered car, they may rub *more often*, but either way they'll rub.

Id really appreciate it if you did try those out on your 90. I just dont want to buy somethin that wont fit. Does anyone have this size rim and tire on a 91, or any gen 1 for that matter (89-91)?? Let me know if you do.

18" x 8" Team Dynamics, 40mm offset & 235/40/18's... only thing is looks like my fenders have been trimmed previously & even so that'd only run maybe $80-90 for a professional place to cut them & seal em back up with paint & sealer. How do I know? I just went with my buddy to have it quoted. Let us know how they look. thumbs_u

No.

Not unless you are willing to trim the rear fenders. At least ¾" off the outter wheel lip.

I am running 225/45-17"s on 17"x7" wheel swith 40mm backspacing and I ended up having to trim my rear fenders.

I lowered mine 3" so I needed to roll the lip on the front fenders too.
