I have aftermarket speakers and amps in my 95 SHO. Not too long ago, my daughter complained to me that my speaker on the right rear was 'going on and off and sometimes emanates a scratchy sound' with the radio on. Does this issue only involves the wiring connection to the speaker (dirty or loose)? Or perhaps, an issue with the amplifier? (My front tweeters and reg. speakers sound great in front though...) :salute:

At the amp, switch the channels (the wiring) for the two rear speakers. If it is the wiring (most likely) the opposite speakers will do the same thing.

i'm starting to think the audio wiring in these cars just starts to disintegrate after a certain number of years..both my 95 and my dads 93 have problems with speakers cutting out and crackling/popping...

I have the full (orignial) JBL system in my '95 and with 165k it hasn't given me one problem at all...and yes I like to listen to my music plenty loud.

Yeah I just found all mine but the drivers front to actually work at full potential. Pretty sure it's the stock setup so time to upgrade!

i had this problem with my factory amp and a aftermarket stereo. I bypassed the amp and the problem went away.

I just bought my 92 mtx and it looks like the previous owner did some new and inventive things to the sterero system. I have found wires leading from the engine compartment back to the trunk (it's a pretty thick power cord). The wires to the door speakers have been cut, and when I tried to reattach them, they cut out and are scratchy. I am almost ready to take out the amp(stock) and add another one (I have an extra stock amp setup). It's tough to try to figure out what this guy has done.

Funny you say that. In the drivers door I have dual cone pioneers. They just suddenyl started cracking/poping.

Usually when we hit bumps it pops. I think the window is rubbing up against the wiring harness also.

yea, it seems like the door speakerrs were especially prone to popping on and off (and crackling) in both my 95 and my dads 93...i wouldnt be surprised if these MI roads have shaken something loose...but i'm positive that the wiring at the headunits and in trunk is good..
