I have a 2013 SHO PP, check engine light was on when I bought it (02 sensor). The car came with Air intake and magnaflow exhaust, obviously it was tuned before I purchased it pre-owned at the dealership.
I would like to buy a tuner, but am not sure which tuner to buy.. being the car was probably tuned by the previous owner in the past and I'd like to buy the same tuner as the previous owner but have no way to reach him. I have no idea if the vehicle is currently set to a stock tune or what have you, and am stuck. If I buy any tuner, do I risk the chance of it not being able to properly tune the SHO?

If you want a stock tune, the dealership can reset the p.c.m. back to factory using a tear tag IDS session. If the car has a 3 bar map in it, it may not like this.

When you do something like the above it wipes everthing. I would suspect this would be the same for any tune. You rewrite the whole software for engine and transmission managemt, not just specific parts.

The best people to ask would be the tuner themselves and make sure to tell them what mods are present.

If your not sure if you have a 3 bar map sensor, some digging on the forum will find how to's and part numbers.

If you have a check engine light from bad o2 chances are previously they were running cattless and damaged the 02 when putting it back in would be my guess also the programmer they were using is unussable typically for more then one car so they would have to unmarry the vehicle to use it on another.

Chances very low it has a tune.

its more important to choose your person you want to tune your car that will tell you what programmer to get chances are there going to go with sct x4 but I could be wrong.

You will want to check what spark plugs you have before you talk to your tuner I'd say check your thermostat also but thats a pain to do more then once so just buy a new one if you decide to use a tune needing a colder thermostat.

You have Magnaflow? I just installed one on my 2014 SHO PP and the drone was horrible!!! I had to replace the center muffler with a much larger one and it's a lot better but still some drone. How is yours?

Thank you John and Fallen for the input!

The Magnaflow's are pretty bad. Almost everyone who rides in my vehicle complains about the drone and how it sounds like a "ricer." Which I can't really defend because it does.

If the drone seems to be a certain frequency at a certain rpm/condition, you can build a helmholtz resonator to tune it out. Such as what SilverSHO documented on this forum.

DTC #. Sensor 1 or Sensor 2 (upstream or downstream sensor). Talk with the tuners you're considering and tell them what you know about your car currently (2 or 3 bar map, sparkplug number, what air intake, thermostat temp). They'll let you know if they have a tune to try, Unfortunately, most of what's listed is probably going to need to be replaced. "If" it's tuned right now with a 3 bar and you go back to a stock tune, you're going to absolutely need a 2 bar.
