My SHO revs up to 2000 rpm on a cold start. I understand 'they all do it' but this is really annoying and I'm sure contributes to the (sometimes) early rod bearing failures these cars seem to suffer from. Does anyone know how to change this condition? I bet it's due to fuel injectors leaking down but maybe there's a way to alter this?

It's called cold start high idle. Think back to carbeurated vehicles and their chokes. It is a necessary feature.
