Say is there some sort of a rev limiter on the 94 automatics or is something wrong with my engine?
When just sitting when I rev up the engine it starts cutting out at 4k. On the road it runs like a bat out of ****. What's up with this?
thanks

That, I believe, is to protect the engine from spinning up too fast with no load. It does that on new SLO Tauruses too.

Alan,

Yes there is a rev limiter in the ATX's. The rev limiter is ther to protect your torque converter from overheating or blowing up while reving in park.

Maybe, but why would you want to increase the rev limiter in park? Unless you were checking secondaries at WOT. Seems like a good safeguard for the torque converter. You can alter the rev limiter during driving applications with a chip.

Well I pulled up to this old lady in a chevy citation, and she was revin up that four banger....Stepping up to the challenge I reved my all impressive yamaha power plant, and it started to cut out at 4gr. I was embarresed :( !

Well she smoked me off the line cause my head was hanging in shame, but then I ran her off the road, and regained my authority as speed king!

Thats why.

It is ******* the engine's bearings to rev it without load. Don't do it very often or more SHOs will bite the dust.
