Theoretically, what kind of improvement should I see if I get a used MAF with no holes that replaces a loosely taped one to seal some leaks?

And, just to make sure I'm using the correct terms, the MAF and MAF sensor is the big tube that goes from the intake filter to the throttle body, right?

Thanks!
Nick

And by "what kind of improvement" I'm wondering specifically if that helps mileage, throttle response, any benefit to HP or TQ.

I guess even a "Yes" or "No" answer would suffice.

It's hard to speculate - very little if any will be noticeable. If your maf sensor is malfunctioning and throwing a code - it will help. But if it is only your air intake hose - the black one going from the airbox/maf to the throttle body - then it you don't need a maf, you just need that intake hose.

i think he's refering to the rubber intake tube that goes between the MAF housing and throttle body. the MAF, or Mass Air Flow sensor is that black box screwed to the aluminum tube stuck to the airbox. if your intake tube going from that to the throttle body is torn or in less than stellar condition, gains or not, it's best to replace it.
