Vnuk1, how bad did your SHOs' idle surge. I have just a little surge at idle but it does it enough to where it bothers me.

It was bad, after it was warm it would bounce from 3-400 to 1000-1500 RPMs and sometimes it would stall.

But that would still bug the **** out of me. Is it constant or when does your SHO do that?

It does bug the shit out of me but I'm dealing with a broken subframe right now. It does it all the time at idle. I'm going to reread this entire thread and check everything you checked but I'll start with what you found to be the problem.

Yup try the Purge Solenoid, maybe just pull the Vacuum Line coming from the TB next to the IAC and if the Idle surge stops thats more than likely your problem as well.

Another thing Beth was telling me was to take off the TB and clean the Nostrils out. Maybe yours is really dirty and that can be causing the surge too.

Well it was the Purge Solenoid I took off the Vacuum line today while it was running and tried sucking on it to see if it was open and sure enough it was closed. So I bypassed it and hooked up the vacuum line and it runs better than ever!

Does that really make sense? I thought that valve was supposed to be closed at idle.

The vacuum line between the valve and tee was rotted to **** on mine, so I just removed it and capped the bottom of the valve as a temporary fix. As usual, temporary turned to permanent and its been like that for a while. I'm going to put a new intake manifold on the car today, along with all new vacuum lines, and will probably just delete the valve. Occasionally I have a rough idle for about 30 secs after starting the car when it is warm, so we'll see if this cures it, but I'm not holding my breath.

I am pretty sure it is suppose to open while idling, It has something to do with your emissions. Don't quote me on that either as I am still not too sure. I'm guessing when the Engine is turned off the FCPS closes so no Gas Vapor can escape from the Tank. And when the Engine is running it is pulling those gases and sucking them into the Intake to burn.

Canister purge solenoid;
An electrical solenoid that opens the canister purge valve between the fuel vapor canister line and the intake manifold when energized.
