Replaced clutch, slipping

Big problem, my new Luk clutch seems to slip really bad. I attached bungee chords and a spring to my clutch fork and got that working, temp fix. When driving and clutch all the way closed, it still slips horrible, Is it cause it has to break in? I had the flywheel professionally machined, and its the Luk repset. What you all think?

Make sure your cable is adjusted , search the forum if you dont know how to.

Slipping is not a break-in problem. Not quite following you with the bungee and clutch fork comment? Concur on checking cable adjustment first.

I put in new ceramic clutch fork bushings, and they are so tight when I push in clutch, they don't release. Attached a spring and bungee cords to it to get it to pull back when I release the clutch. It only works when transmissions warm.

I played with the clutch cable again, still no good. Its that fork bushing being so tight not allowing the tob to open all the way. Gotta remove again, damnit!!! Lesson learn, beware of the ceramic tob fork bushings, they may be to tight.

Something is wrong.

Im running the ceramic coated bushing too, and they fit like a factory bushing. Slips right over the fork, with just a hail of play.

You sure one of the bushings didnt get jammed in crooked?

Also, with those bushings, make certain you GREASE THEM. Otherwise they will squeak to no end. :munch:

Oh yes. they were lubbed. I had to practically hammer them to get them in I remember. No, there not crooked. I also had to hammer the **** out of my fork to get down to. Stupid me didn't realize would cause this problem.

Good luck.. your hammer time scares me... :) Maybe your fork is bent or something? I'm also trying to figure out why it was tight..

It sounds like the shaft is damaged or bent somehow. The fork should slide right onto the shaft.

Unfortunately, there is only so much you can do without pulling the tranny again.

I have installed several sets of the ceramic fork bushings (thanks SHO NUT) and have never had any problems. I HIGHLY recomend them.

Did you replace the quill sleve when you installed the new TOB?
Did you use GREEN loc tite to retain it?
