Got a ticket for having tinted windows.....grumble...what's the easiest way to remove it? Does it peel off in one "uniform" piece, or is it a tedious "piece by piece" pain in the ass job? What about having a tint shop professionally remove it? Suggestions?
Thanks.

I had the same problem, I take it to a buddy now. When I took mine off I gat a hair dryer and heated it up as I went and the window was pretty clean when I was done, I used a razor blade to start in the corner and the once I had enogh to grab I kept the heat on it and just pulled slowly

Pulling on tint is not a good idea, especially with the heater defroster lines on the back window. What I've caught a glimpse of when I had my SHOs tinted was people who remove tint were spraying a solution of ammonia and water onto the tint and covering the window on the inside of the car with a plastic trash bag. Let the car bake out in the sun for an hour or two, and the tint just fell right off.

I've never tried this before, but that's what the tint pros were doing. Be careful of the fumes and good luck.

I guess I got lucky in that department, my prev. owner used the cheap window-cling stuff. I was scared to try and pull it off cause I didn't know what kind it was, but it just ripped right off, clean window underneath. The stuff was so cheap that it made looking through the window blurry.

The best part of the whole thing was the tint didn't quite cover the rear side window, so what did they do? Fill in the rest with a permanent marker... yes, a permanent marker. I'll post a pic soon.

Good Luck.

Autozone has window tint removal kits. They run about $10-$12 if memory serves me right

I've always wondered how to remove it, I guess to save myself some money in the future. And to the guy who bought the car with a permeant marker-static cling tint job, from your other posts on here I'd say you bought your car from someone who didn't care one bit about it. That's pathetic! Take care of it and it will take care of you. wink

Usually it comes in pieces when it has been on there pretty long. Most of the time its in one big piece, all I use is lots of windex and a paint scraper(or razor).

I think maybe the person who did these things to it either like you said a.) Didn't care, or b.) had no idea what they had. I'll do my best to recessitate this beast.
