Im not sure you could re-route the belt. Try a junk yard or your local stealership.

Looks to me like the belt could be rerouted by going straight up from the crank to the PS pulley, eliminating one idler and the AC compressor. It would take a considerably shorter belt though.

You could experiment with the AC compressor still on the car if you need to. A new AC clutch whould have a new bearing too.

problem is the clutch is no longer avaible at all neither the compressor or any a/c parts. all the parts stores here list the a/c and other parts off the durtec for the SHO  and i have no idea why. the bearing i was told has not been made in years. i even went to a bearing company and sellers of all bearings and they have nothing listed or anything close. this is :hpoop: i can not believe you can not get parts for this car :madflame: the only problem i see is the timing guide at the bottom may hit but if i can get another idler for the a/c side that is grooved then i think that will work.

the dealer told me they had a sho in a few years ago with a/c problems and could not get parts for it and they ran a belt and done away with the a/c but he could not tell me what size belt or how it was ran but dose remeber it was done.

That can't be true. The auto parts stores I might believe, but Ford has got to be able to get a hold of those parts.

I just checked www.rockauto.com and they have the AC parts for the SHO. (ie, clutch bearing, compressor, hub, clutch). A lot of the parts they have listed are Motorcraft also.

I would try www.fordpartsnetwork.com also.

The autoparts stores I would believe can't get the parts, but Rockauto is really good stocking SHO parts. But, in the case of the dealer it sounds like they were just to lazy to do anything for you because the parts are out there and available.

Did you check that Rock Auto link, under the listing for a Gen III SHO they have all the AC and compressor components that one needs. What the dealership is asking of you is preposterous. I have multiple times ordered a part that came in a pack, they stock the rest and give you the one. From your experience it sounds like your dealer is a real piece of work.....

The rock auto listing, doesn't have a selection of bearings like advance does. They have the one correct one for the application. I like them because they have all the proper info for the SHO, and not a bunch of Taurus parts where we must designate what is for the SHO.
