how easy is it to remove the Ford and the Taurus badges off the trunk? are they just glue-ons, or will removing them leave holes or any other sort of marks?
thanks for any help

Yes, there are holes... You will have to have them filled and painted.

how would i go about taking them off, and what do you recomend using to fill the holes? i've got touch up paint, which i think would be fine for matching original colour...

I remove badges with dental floss, use it like a saw.As far as the holes,if you just fill them and paint with touch up,it`s going to look terrible. It really should be welded closed and painted properly.

I totally agree with JT, it will look like crap if you just use touch up paint. You might as well just keep the badges on if you are going to do that. If go JT's route, you will end up with this...

Thanks, but mine isn't photo shopped. If you know what you are doing you can do it yourself, but if you have to take is some where for paint, they will most likely have extra paint mixed in the color you need. You can have other parts touched up for the cost of labor.

Good luck!!

They need to be spraypainted to look good followed up by clearcoat. A good shop will clearcoat the whole panel to match.

Or, how about like this azz? I see that your car is also a Gen1...

Touch-up paint will NOT fill the holes left behind. They need to be either welded up, and finished off, or fill them with a fiberglass- based body filler. Do not attempt this yourself, if you do not know what you are doing.

I suggest that you take it to a bodyshop then. It may not be cheap...possibly a few hundred dollars.

****....do what I did....I hit 2nd gear really hard in a drag race ::broke the motor mount at the same time::, and the Taurus emblem just flew right off. I'm prolly gonna buy a Yamaha sticker to put over the holes.

You'd probably need to touch it up but, See Jay's (meshohorney) car.

It looks cool like that, since the G1 and G3 logo's are so similar.

I just bought one of Lewis' badge inserts. Instead of using what he has on his site, I asked him to make two with just "SHO" on them, skipping that "powered by Yamaha" etc. Look great now, and mystifies some people, like the Mustang and Camarro guys!

Oh, if you need to fill any holes, just get some JB Weld epoxy. Much better in every way than body filler! Also easier to use. When it is almost hard, take a razor and slice off any excess. When cured, use 400 wet sand. Paint, clear coat.

That lock needs to go... and then make that 3rd light a flush mount (make it even with the spoiler then clear over it... if done right you won't be able to feel the light)... Damn I can't wait till I get my car done!
