i know how to remove the other 2 (one on left of steering whell and the other underneath the Climate control unit that actualyl has 2 vents side by side) but how does this vent come off. i figured i would check with you guys before i started working on it. the reason why i want to take it out is i want to get a new vent since this one the adjustbale things are kind of broken on it.

Have the same problem on mine. The vent just pops off. Get a screwdriver in there and just pry it gently, and be carefull not to crack the dash around it anywhere.

i was looking at it and it looked like all i had to do was pry it, but i just wanted to make sure you guys said the same thing that i had thought. i didn't want to break it or anything.
thanks again

This is very hard to describe without pictures, but on the top and bottom of the vent, there are 2 plastic stops that need to be pushed down at the smae time, about 3/4 inch in from the outside. Once you pop the top or bottom out, wedge something in between the vent surround and the dash to prevent it from popping back in, work the other side out. This is a job that if done hastily will dent the vent edge and crack your dash. I think there's probaby a ford tool out there that makes this a whole lot easier. FYI if you are removing the vent with intent to discard it, it's faster and easier to break/bust the whole "grille" out, then pull the stops in fron the inside. This is a good thing to practice at the junkyard on a random taurus. Don't be a schmo though, pay them the 5 bucks they want for the vent you destroyed practicing the first time on, if you are like me. but they just saved your dashboard. It's worth it.
Good luck.

It pops in. As I said, it is really hard and confusing to describe this without any pictures, if they put it together, there's always a way to get it out.
