Has anyone removed the front tag bracket from a 2010 or 11 SHO, how did it look? Looks like I will have some large holes to deal with. I used the forum search but found no info.
Thanks,
Lee

It does suck to have to keep a front plate on in VA too, but if you take it off, like you said there will be holes. If you can deal with that, the bracket should be held on by plastic rivets you can drill out like an aluminum one or use a trim tool to remove it. Get pics once you get it off.

The rivets are metal but can be drilled out. My car came from Ohio but is not required to have a front plate in Michigan. I took mine off and bought plastic plugs that have christmas trees on the end to secure them in place. I bought a small bottle of touch up paint. Sanded lightly, primed, sanded, painted 3-4 coats, very light sand, then clear coated and it turned out nice. It's a lot better than a front plate and definitely better than holes. Sorry no pics right now. It looks just like this but white http://www.modbargains.com/Painted_Bumper_Plugs_BMW.htm

MadTel4, did you purchase your car in Missouri by chance? If so, they should have noticed that you are a Kansas resident and left the front plate mount off of the bumper. I'd be speaking to the dealership about that if this is in fact the case.

EDIT: Or do the new Tauri come with the front plates from the factory?

yes I took off the front tag bracket too, lucky the chrome plate cover I placed for my license plate had these platic chrome screw covers I placed in the big holes in the bumper. To hold them on, I used stainless steel nuts and bolts so it will not rust

Hey guys, I need some help, I drilled out the two metal rivets, but the bracket is still locked on? What size drill bit did you use and how deep did you have to go?

Any advice would help. Thanks!

Did the heads of the rivets come off, or did you just drill out the centers? If you just drilled out the centers, the rivets are still working as designed. When a rivet is installed the body balloons out from the back, wedging it in place. You need to use a big enough bit to get the head to come free. Use a slow drill speed so when you get through the aluminum you don't also go through the license plate bracket and in to the bumper cover. Once the heads are free you can push the body of the rivets through the bumper cover from the front side.

On my Brick... the FL dealer SCREWED a dealer advertising plate to the front. (New Vehicle) And... NO we don't require front plates... I put in plugs... was OK but not great... so I ended up with a "cute front plate".
