I'm getting ready to do my MTX conversion on my '94. I figure the easiest way to lift the engine in and out of the car would be with the trans mated, but the axles removed (yes, I know that the fluid will need to be drained prior). How do the axles come out? Do they just have a spring clip on the inner end and require a quick yank to pop out of the side gear?

They have a clip. Best bet is to get a pry bar in between the inner joint and the transmission. It shouldn't take too much effort.

I've had success with a pair of ball joint forks, but that's on an MTX.

Don't yank on the half shaft, as you'll just pull the inner joint apart.
