Anyone out there removed the throttle cable out of a Gen 1 MTX?

There is a fitting on the cable that allows it to pass through the firewall and "snap" into place, preventing the outer shield from moving when you press on the gas pedal.

The problem I'm having, besides getting stuck headfirst in the drivers footwell, is releasing the fingers that hold the fitting into the firewall. Any tips or tricks to release the fingers?

Help!

Yank that cable with all your might..it will come out eventually. It is a pain in the butt, but relief is coming because installing it is so much easier.

Advice: Try to pull the cable as straight as you can out from the firewall.
