Is it possible to remove an MTX tranny from the top? Clearing the pressure plate looks like the only problem.

Fenderwell will probably be the fastest...I just had a hard time putting the **** back in...not much room to get a good hold of the tranny to slide back in correctly...need one of those 2 foot robots with long flexible arms!

If you do a search for a clutch procedure under user name "sdpatt" you will find it. That one is the normal way of going about pulling a trannsimission. You can also pull it from the fenderwell, but I don't think anyone here has a write up, just remove what you see in the way.

First of all, Where in denver are you at?

This is not a step by step quide but it is really close. It may also not be in the "right" order...
how to remove an mtx:
1. Disconnect battery
2. Remove airbox and intake hose/maf assembly
3. Remove wheels and tires and place front of car as high as you can on jackstands. Place jackstands under the unibody of the car, not the subframe.
4. Remove starter
5. Remove clutch cable and all brackets above it.
6. Remove speedo cable and unplug all wires to the tranny.
7. Release the knuckles from the balljoints and remove the axles(leave the intermediate shaft in the tranny, the one with the bearing on the passenger side)
8. remove both of the torque dampers and the brackets on the transmission mount
9. Place an engine hoist, or motor brace up top and strap the motor up.
10. tie up the power steering rack by its tie rod ends to the springs. Unbolt it from the subframe.
11. Unbolt the motor mounts and tranny mount from the subframe.
12. unbolt power steering cooler/cruise control actuator assembly from the subframe.
13. remove the shifter from the tranny.
14. double check to make sure everything is unbolted from the subframe and clear from the subframe lowering and that there is some tension on the straps/chains holding the motor up.
15. Remove the subframe bolts and lower the subframe
16. Unbolt the tranny with a jack under it, holding it in place.
17. slide the tranny back(towards the driver fender well)
18. Lower the tranny and you are readyt for install of a new tranny.
