I'm finally getting ready to dive into the remote turbo on my 94 Sho wagon. I have a T3/T4 hybrid, plan on running stainless tubing to and from the turbo, 2.5 inch charge line, and port the exhaust out the opposite (passenger) side through a low restriction muffler. (Intake through a 3" exhaust pipe on the driver's side, through an air cleaner mounted behind the rear wheelwell, then to the turbo).

My question...oil return. I have seen the whole scavenger pump setup, but was wondering if there was a better way... Say a 24oz aluminum overflow tank with a small diesel fuel pump to return the oil to the pan. This setup would be half the price, but would it work? Opinions? Strings?

While a separate oil system for the turbo sounds like a great deal, I am hard pressed to believe in its functionality. In a self lubricated supercharger, there is an internal oil "pump", that ramps oil pressure according to rpm. In a turbo setup, the rpm's of the turbo will rise, but oil pressure will not. I would do the scavenger pump(I'm using a tilton differential pump) to remove the oil from the turbo. I have the pressure line from the motor going to the turbo, then being drained by the pump, and plumbed back into the oil cap with air line quick disconnects.

Also, when you do your intake, make sure you DO NOT install it behind the wheel. The filter will need cleaning every week if you do. I currently have mine sitting inside my rear bumper cover behind the spare tire well. I do not have any support on my bumper however and the bumper cover is literally just screwed to the body with some sheet metal screws.

On the charge line, 2.5" is a little big and will cause some lag due to the long pipes. I want to redo all my pipes to 2.25", but I believe 2.5" would be to large with my intercooler setup. Currently my pipes run 2" all the way up to about the back of the tranny, then go to 2.25", over the subframe and flare to 2.5", into the intercooler and up into the stock intake hole in the fender, flare to 3", then 4" for the maf, then back to the throttle body.

on the muffler, go for a flowmaster or equivalent chambered muffler, stay away from turbo muffs and glass packs. The chambered muffs are going to muffle sound enough to be bearable on the street, but flow enough to not hurt power. I have a dynomax race bullet muffler(glass pack style) after the turbo and while its fast, its loud. and kinda sounds like a pop can with fishing weights shaking around due to all the rasp.
