As I'm waiting to take delivery, I'm unclear whether or not the Ford installed remote start on the SHO actually support the precooled and preheated seat options.

All of the marketing and order info seems to imply it does, but my dealer was told by their "Taurus" rep that on the SHO, with the pushbutton start, the precooled and preheated seat options aren't part of the remote start.

Does anyone have this to confirm?

Thanks!

This may not apply, but logic says it should to some degree....But the 2011 F-150 we just bought has remote start and heated/cooled seats. Not sure if they come on with the system or not, haven't tried that.

One other thing with the remote start on our truck (I call it the F-150 EcoSHO truck!) if you just bump the key in the ignition and let go, it will keep cranking till it starts. Every other vehicle I have had it quits cranking if it hasn't already fired. It kind of startled me the first time I did that, turned the key then changed my mind just as I hit the start point, and it kept cranking! Does the SHO with remote start do this?

I have it. It is a single button key fob that only give you start and run capability. No other accessories can be turned on. Oh... and the range SUCKS!

But the question is can you set the seats to heat or cool when you use the remote start? On my 2010, I cannot. In fact, I remote start the car and when I get in, the car shuts down and I restart now that the key is within range. I understand that all remote start systems with pushbutton ignition work this way.

I have a 2011 Sho and just talked with the dealer about the remote start shutting off when I open the door and was told to bring it back in and they have shut off the MyKey feature on the fob and the remote start will work properly. I can't get it in to the dealer until tomorrow, so I will let you know if this fixes the problem.

Yeah, I should have looked further into that. But I'm still satisfied with the Ford one. Just have to restart once I get in the car.

Did you ever get this fixed? My 12 SHO with the Ford remote start does the same thing when you open the door after remotely starting.

Not sure if I understand correctly the problem but it is normal for the car to shut down when started with the remote start and you unlock the car with the fob and open a door or open the trunk. Once inside you restart normally. My understanding of this is that the car reads the fob and sets the car for your preferences. There is a fob without a battery installed in the car for the system to use to remote start it. From my checking on this when I purchased my remote start unit this cannot be changed.
That said I am most interested to find out if this was wrong and the car can remain running after getting into it.

My dad's 2010 F150 does the same thing. Kind of annoying, but rather have that instead of letting it run.

There's got to be a way of not having the engine stall when you open the doors or trunk when in remote start..

Have an aftermarket one installed?

Personally, I like that feature myself. Especially if someone walks by, notices it's running, and decide they want to take it for a joy ride. If it stalls when you open the door, they may lose interest quickly?

It's a Ford dealer installed option on the SHO's. I thought as long as the doors were locked it would be ok to remote start especially if its outside the house in the drive.

No, I'm saying to have an aftermarket one installed instead of the dealer installed system. Otherwise, I bet you're stuck with having the engine quit when a door is opened.

There was a big discussion about this on the flex forum a little while back. The dealer can change that setting, although there was hit and miss issues with some of them actually knowing how to do it.
