Relocating Ignition module

I recently had my 92 SHO in the shop for a no start issue after hitting a very large bump. The mechanic found that the black connector on the Ignition Module had been hit and disconnected. He plugged it back in and the car runs fine.

Now, I've read about people cracking the module aswell. So my question, Is there any reason why i shouldn't move the module so it won't end up bumping into stuff?

If you fix your suspension (ie, probably a worn-out or sagging sub-frame connector), the DIS module is not in danger.

theoretically, you could probably just extend the wires and mount it to the firewall....maybe...

the only time I've seen the plug for the DIS get yanked was because of bad engine mounts.

How are yours?

Do a search. There should be a thread about this. I know at least one person has tried it.

My engine mounts are shot, and I'm looking into solving that problem as well. For now I'm just trying to protect the DIS until time and money allow me to replace the engine mounts.

If you move the DIS to somewhere without adequate heat sinking it will most likely overheat and die. It is where it is for a reason. Please fix the motor mounts...

where are you at in Chattanooga? I'm up in Sale Creek. You're the only other TN resident I've seen on here.

I believe its been talked about before that the intake doesnt offer THAT much heat sink capabilities, I think if you properly adhered it to any metal surface in the engine compartment that wasnt in an obviously warm spot, you would be just fine.
