Couple of questions..

I'm going to swap the eatc and the radio positions this weekend, what I was wondering was,
How hard is it to take off the dash piece around the eatc and how does it come off??

Has anyone done it, any wiring/rerouting problems occur?? If so how tough was it??

thanks for any input

and then this

Not a very hard install at all the wires come right down. Only thing u have to do is trim the mounting braket around the eatc. so that it will fit in the din slot. And thats about it. I just put some elec tape around my eatc so that it would fit nice and snug in the din slot. And you should be ready to go....

That is how the cva-100 comes out. It looks like the hole unit is out. But those are just the rails. that lets the tv come out. Like i said it is an older modle. the newer ones are slimmer. and more compact but. I am happy with the cva-1000.

Radio is really in the right place now! I am also installing a video/receiver in my dash in the A/c area. However, I am thinking of moving the A/C head down to the cassette/lighter panel as I am thinking of using the entire DIN area for a center speaker for DVD surround sound. NOT cd surround, in which the center channel is derived from the left and right, but DVD audio 5.1, where the center channel is a discrete channel, as are the rear channels. All other center channel installs are really hampered by trying to adapt to the difficult location on almost all cars.

By the way, I covered my door panels, including that plastic area in the upper front of the panels near the side mirrors, and console with real leather over special foam. Easy and a HUGE improvement.

So to mount a headunit in the spot for the EATC did you need to make anything to make it fit right? I have a Kenwood MP3 player, and they use a mounting sleeve and I'm just wondering what it would take to put my stereo up there. It would be SOOOOOOO much better.

Why not put the eatc in the center console? If you have an auto climate control, the you barely need to touch it (I don't), so why not hide it?

The vacunm hoses and the power cables that power the eatc won't reach to the center console. The wires are way to short...... but good thinking though

I installed Heater control unit into my glovebox, I had to lengthen all of the wires to the control head. I soldered and heat shrank (is that even a word?) every single wire, then heat shrank them all together and zip tied it all up so it's looks factory, I just never got around to actually making a flat panel for it to sit flush when you open it up, so now it's just sitting in there, but it's still cool, a pretty big pain to get to though, I think I am going to take it back out eventually. It's just nice to see people getting creative with their SHOs, keep up the good work.

That's like 20+ wires back there! Are all the extended wires color coded? Nice job.

i realize this is an older thread and probably wont get replyd..but heres a ? anyways.
exactly how hard is it?
pop off some trim, move the etac/wires/hoses down, trim the sides of the etac...
does the etac hole have sufficient support for mounting a standard aftermarket radio?

Yeah pretty much just pop of the dash and trim the eatc and move the wires down. And the hole does support my cva-1000 really well.... Tonight i'm going to get the sho in the garage and i'm going to pull the dvd player back out and i'm going to do some trimming or grinding so that i can get my dvd player fully in there. it sticks out like a couple few inches. And i'm going to soon be making a trim pieace to go around the eatc and my dvd to make the install look a little cleaner...

SilverSHO is my pics not showing up now? They are for me....
