I was just wondering, would using Eibach lowering springs made for a regular V6 taurus be ok? I cannot find any specific to the SHO only for the regular model taurus. Would ride quality go to shit? Or would my struts bottom out?

I think the general consensus is that they are a little too soft for the gen 3, but they will work.

Are there any other options for the gen 3 sho as far as stiffer/lower springs?

Also if I do not lower the vehicle, do you know anything about the monro quick struts? Do they ride good, how about reliability?

There are no other spring options unless you can run across some old Roush Racing or Intrax springs. Monroe's should be fine also as a replacement but just an FYI, the 96-97s had active ride struts and the 98-99s had standard style struts. No big deal, but you'll have to remove the sensors if you have the 96-97 model.

I do have a 97, so thank you for that information, will I get any idiot lights popping on if I do remove them?

I have monroe sensatracs on mine for a 2002 taurus with stock springs at the monent. Wait just the front, stock rear. I like the way it rides now. I also have the sarc fuse pulled because I like the tighter steering. Btw I left the sensors on mine.

Not a concern as you are talking a '97, but just to clear up a slight error in the information, the SARC struts were on the first three years, that is '96-'98. It is only the '99s that did not come with them from the factory, and IIRC, some of the '99s actually did have them as Ford burned down their stock levels on the SARCs. Most '99s did not have them, apparently, though. As SARC struts appear to be no longer available at all in the OEM parts network, if you are in need of new struts a shift to non-SARC types is going to be required unless you can find someone with an old set they want to part with.

I really do like the SARC. Lucky for me the previous owner replaced the struts sometime before I bought it. However the mounts are failing.

I've had both Roush and Eibachs. They are both technically made for the SLO, but are still stiffer than stock SHO springs and are perfectly fine on the car.

Both lower the car essentially the same amount. Eibachs will sag an additional 1/4" or so after about a year.

Roush definitely ride rougher. After 3 years with them on New England roads, I had to get rid of them and switched to Eibach. I've never regretted that decision. Car is nice and low but rides stiffer than stock but still decent. Both springs handle the same.

Both are discontinued, so finding them will be a challenge but there are definitely sets out there if you're willing to pay the price.

Shosource now offers v8 springs. Not sure if the spring rates are stiffer then the o.e but I know the lower the car quite a bit

I have found a few sets online, not terribly expensive but not what I want to pay either, hmm guess I have some thinking to do.

They do offer them but it is a group buy and is only at 7 out of 25 orders, with the amount of shos out there and the amount of people modifying their gen 3 shos, I probably wouldnt get a set for another two years.

I'm in the process of replacing my Eibachs with stockers (sorry, Eibachs are claimed). I used 2002 Taurus SE struts, and to me, the car rode like absolute shit. Yeah, she looked damn sexy, but the ride quality wasn't worth it. I'll just lower the struts in the knuckles to get the stance back and still enjoy the feeling of driving a couch.

You're finding listings on line, and most likely for wagon springs. Try actually purchasing sedan springs and see what happens...
