Red Basket Weaves?

Has anyone painted thier basketweaves the car color...except black or grey....I was thinking of doing the weave portion in body color(current/currant red) with the center and edges in silver/grey.....
Your thought please....

I have a red '90 and may I just say, yuck! How about just painting the center caps red? I think that would look kind cool.
