well my car has decided not to shut off anymore , im forced to dis-connect some computer part , then it dies out , then i have to dis-connect the batt cause all my electrical stuff remains on.im assuming its a bad ignition system? one of my peoples mentioned it could be a recall issue? so i was just down at the dealership and asked about this so called recall , the guy say "im not a tech" i just watch the front while all the techs are out to lunch. im due back in 30min. so anyone heard of such a recall? if not , im not paying $75 for a new one , i will just rig up some knight rider stuff and just have a push button start. so what you guys got for me?:thankyou:

There is no such recall.

You may have a bad ignition switch although, from your sparse description, it is impossible to give any accurate opinion about the car's problem.

I had this happen some years ago. The small pin in the ignition switch actuator lever popped out, rendering the ignition switch inoperable and stuck in it's last position where the pin fell out. There are two plastic ignition switch actuator pieces between the ignition cylinder and the ignition switch in the column.

A few weeks prior to this, rotating the iginition cylinder to the Accessories and Start positions had noticeable catches where you'd have to occasionally jiggle the key to get past the "bad spot".

heh, the one thing i dont like about the interior saw i did between my 89 and 91 is that i have to use the 91 steering column... my 89 one has the best ignition switch in it! dont even need a key to start it! lol i would replace the switch or rig somthing up like you said, i would just take the IGN wire though and put a switch in it.
