Hello all!
I have a 2010 SHO, 193,000 miles, had it since new, 12 years now. Never used my rear shade much, but went to use it the other day, and it seems stuck.
It's getting power, I can hear it try when I push the console button, but it doesn't go up. I went into the back seat and pulled up on it in 3 different spots to see if I could free it up, but no deal.

I'm sure one of you folks knows how to fix it, so how about a clue to get me on my way to working again.

Thanks everyone for your help and suggestions.

Pretty common issue for the gears to wear out. I never use mine so I can't tell you the fix. A search should give you the solution, though.

There's a tooth that breaks off on the gear that drives the shade. You can take it apart and rotate the gear 180 degrees and get a few more years out of it, or you can try to find the gear and just replace it.

Thanks! The car is 12 yrs old, not sure I’ll fix it. Never really used it.

Do you have to go in from the trunk to attempt that fix?

I think you have to remove the entire assembly to get to it, but I'm not 100% sure. I never looked at it closely until it was on my floor. Taking the entire assby out and putting it back in is a pretty big pita tho.

It is mounted from the inside. You have to remove c-pillar trim, fold the seat forward, remove the parcel shelf (careful not to rip the foam supports off the bottom, then remove the sunshade.
Thank you! That's just what I needed to know.

If you decide to fix it. The foam spacers are almost against the glass. I can't remember if there are 2 or 3. Lift the parcel shelf up a little bit and reach your hand back and over the shade. The foam blocks are Velcro down. If they do tear off, they can be hot glued back on.

Thanks very much for the tips!

Damn - I now have a problem with mine. On the down stroke seems disconnected from the motor and is now sprung up to about the halfway mark. Can be pushed all the way down but just springs back to half way. Quick fix is to wedge something in the groove to hold it down but then I feel so Ghetto. Any new tips out in SHO world?

Same as the old tips. Broken tooth on a gear inside the shade assembly. Easy fix is don't ever press the button again. Hard fix is tear the entire back of your car apart, take assembly apart and flip the gear around 180 degrees.
