First, welcome to the wonderful world of SHO ownership! :) I'm sure you'll find a wealth of useful information, as well as a great support network for maintenance, upgrades, chit-chat, etc. If you haven't already, I recommend familiarizing yourself with the use of the search feature of the forum. It can be very helpful in finding answers to a lot of the commonly asked questions and ownership issues.

The first step I'd recommend would be to pull the tire and make sure everything is connected and intact. You could have a broken sway bar end link, strut mount/bearing, coil spring, loose/bent control arm, etc.

I personally doubt the wheel bearing would cause the clunk and looseness you describe. Once the wheel is off, grab the rotor and see what movement you can observe when you wiggle it. That might help identify the source of the clunking, as well as the reason for the movement. If you set the parking brake, you shouldn't be able to rotate the rotor, and there shouldn't be much (if any) rotor movement on the hub as long as your parking brake is working properly.

Also, when you re-install the wheel, please be sure to use a torque wrench to tighten the lug nuts in a star pattern to 85-105 foot pounds. "Tight" with a tire iron will do more harm than good.

Let us know what you find out!

There is an off chance this could also be the strut cups.I`ve had them worn so badly that the top of the strut assembly was able to pivot 1/2".The bearing actually pulled away from the rubber housing. The aforementioned ideas can be looked at much easier than this though.

There is some good suggestions already provided. I also doubt that it could be the wheel bearings. I replaced mine at 255,000 miles after replacing the worn out front bearings only to find that they were still in great shape. They are sealed bearings (not packed) and protected from the environment by the rubber cap over the center of the hub nut. If by chance you do find the bearings loose, you'll need a 36mm socket for the hub nut and a long wrench for the 250 lb-ft of torque required to reinstall it. The Timken hub and bearing assembly is available from AutoZone for about $50 for each side and the only special tool needed is the 36mm socket.

36mm is HUGE, u sure its not 30mm?
when i replaced the hub nut on my right rear, i did not have a metric socket large enough, but i found a 1 7/16" that fit nicely...which, 1 7/16" translates to 36MM

The front hub nut size is 30mm. You'd think it would be as large or larger than the rear. Go figure.
