Well, my car started idling like crap, i took a look under the hood for a few secs, played with teh throttle, and realized the rear secondaries wont open. The metal contraption where the vacumn line plugs into is also leaking air into it, and i could spray carb choke leaner onto it and the idle would clear up. Do i need a new one of those things, or is it something simpler. thanks.

Can you see where the gap is? You may need to have a little welding to seal it up. The metal is soft and you have to be careful. It is only necessary to have it work properly if you want your car to run normally.

It's most likely a leak in the rubber diaphragm of the actuator and the actuator will need to be replaced. But just for grins, first make sure the vacuum hose is connected to the port on the actuator. I haven't heard of a vacuum leak on these devices before.

Try using names including, "secondary butterfly valve vacuum diaphragm actuator" and descriptions including opens and closes the three butterfly valves that throttle the secondary intake runners on one cylinder bank.
