 I'm replacing my rear mount on one of my '89's. I've never had this problem before. I've loosened everything I'm supposed to and I have the car up on a lift. When I go to jack the motor up from the oil pan, it's raising the entire subframe/entire front of the car with it. Both nuts that hold both mounts to the subframe are removed, and removed engine roll dampners. I can't figure out what is still holding it. I can put a pry bar between both mounts and the subframe and it will lift and separate, so I know the bolts are not stuck into the subframe. I've done 2 motor swaps on SHO's before so I know I can't be completely dumb!!!

Start checking around for somthing that might be hangin up. Harness, exhaust, etc.

When changing a rear mount, I drop the rear of the subframe a bit.

Also, depending upon how stiff the front mount is, unbolting the front mount from the subframe might help.

You might also try removing the front engine roll dampener that is attached to the front mount, and removing the two tranny mount bolts also.

Everything mentioned was unbolted except the tranny mount. I'll try that, and if it doesn't work I'll try dropping the back of the subframe a bit. Thanks for the advice.
