Just started to notice this. Seems like the back half is lower than it probably should be. It has had a slight clunk over rough bumps on the passanger side since I bought it in August, and now sometimes clunks on both sides over bumps instead of just one side. I looked at it yesterday and it just seems to be way to low.

Whats everyone else think? Heres the pics... and I know, she's dirty right now :frown: Maybe it's just the parking lot or something who knows.

that'd be your shocks, specially with that clunking sound...

Shocks? Struts.

The rear springs of all Taurus' tend to have problems with sagging. That's why when some people install lowering springs all the way around their back end sometimes actually gets raised!

You just have to do like I did and make the front match the rear! ;)

Yea I guess it'd look better lowered in the front. I'm going to have to lift it up in class and look under it. Something just isn't doing it's job. This is the first wrong thing (probably of many to come) that has caught my attention in the 9 months I've had it.

New struts are about 160 each or so I found. 99's also don't have SARC so maybe that will make them cheaper. gulp!

EDIT: Yesterday I thought maybe it was my laundry and everything else I had taken home, and then I hoped it was my subs!

Actually, early 99s did have SARC. Make sure you check and see which struts you have before you buy some!

No its a later model 99... no o/d off either... no SARC... no build date or sticker cause the door was replaced and they didn't care to try to remove it and re-apply it.

Found a set of springs finally on ebay... bid on them... guessing you have to remove the strut and factory spring, compress the new ones and then reinsert the strut? Just wanted to get them so I can install them later on. That'll be a summer project along with the exhaust.

The springs are blue... I don't know who makes them but i've asked. Rousch? Eibach? Anyone know? Here's a link

Yeah, even Gen II's have rear struts don't they???:bonk:

Those are roush springs. Very hot item. Usually they sell for a pretty hefty price. I got mine brand new with a foll colgan bra from a board member for 206.00 a few years ago.

Goes to show what supply & demand will do to them. Roush sold the last 50 pairs of springs for around $75! Glad I bought mine from them!

Oh boy ROUSCH springs huh!!! Geez and I want them bad too... good thing I'm going back to work as soon as school gets out so I can hopefully get those and exhaust done ASAP.

Looked at my car more and it sits pretty level now... must have been the parking lot, whew. Going to put it on the lift and check out if anythings loose which would result in that d*mned clunking. Front passanger side clunks too... I always thought it was the subframe bushings but somebody else said rod end link things or something.

This car is a learning experience and am proud to say I've done all the work so far on it. Including the cams, trans, and intake cleaning.

Product that is no longer available and was very sought after...drives price up. I lucked out. Roush was no longer available when I got mine and I got a full perfect colgan bra with it. 206.00 was by far the best price that was ever going to come around for those two products....that was after shipping even.

Well I brought this thread back from the dead, sorta. So if my car doesn't have SARC do i have to use SHO specific struts or will plain old SLO ones work?

I looked under it yesterday on a lift and nothing seemed to be loose or worn out. All the bushings looked good in the back and in the front as well.

There was one thing I couldnt figure out what it was for though, here's a pic:

Drivers side... seems to pushing onto a sensor or something. Loose as **** though I couldnt figure out if was supposed to be secured or to just move so freely.

Sure looks nicer though after a car wash and cleanin up the tires and wheels!

That's the brake proportioning valve. It will seem a little loose under a no load condition.

Chris your going to have to run SARC struts if your car has SARC.

Unless you mean to pull the fuse and just run them in full hard mode :bonk:
