Has anyone replaced the rear bumper and if so how difficult it is and can the sensors be swapped out or do that have to be changed as well.

It's a decent-sized job. All 4 reverse sensors are actually glued into place along with a snug fit. You would have to "break," those out and then properly insert and glue them into a new bumper. Are you installing an aftermarket or just replacing due to damage? Just curious what you're up to.

Was thinking about replacing due to damage. It's not that bad so I'm still deciding if I want the insurance to cover it or not.

Factor in your time, with never having done one, price of all parts, and painting materials (or the whole job if you farm it out) then put it up with the cost of your deductible.

Well I would need a new number which is over $500 from ford then I would need the lower plastic cladding which is scuffed pretty good and that's around $220. The deductible is $500 so that's already over. Local ford shop quoted me $1370 so better off just having insurance pay for it

Pretty much. I went over the same factors when my wife rearended someone in her Sorento. Told her I was at $800 in parts before paint and without knowing what underneath needed replacing. Also told her it would be $1500-$1600 to have it fixed. We paid the deductible, the repair was $1568. Haha.
