The problem I am having is with my right rear brake caliper(I think). Here is everything that I have replaced e-brake cable, slider pins, rotor, pads, rubber brake line, and hard line from wheel to proportioning valve(the end twisted off when I tried to replace the rubber line.)After all of this the caliper still sticks, enough that I have brake dust on the wheel after only a couple of days.Am I correct to think it may be the caliper itself or could it be something else? For those that may ask(NO,I have never forced the piston back in with a c-clamp I have the tool for the job.)Sorry for such a long post I am getting frustrated with this problem any help will be appreciated and Thanks in advance. shoot

I had the same problem last year. I think my problem was the ebrake mechanism in the caliper was sticking. I replaced the caliper and all is well.

Be aware that the ebrake return spring is difficult to swap over to a new caliper. I returned the first caliper that I bought and found one that had the spring already installed so I wouldn't have to deal with it.

Good luck!

I had the same, and replaced all the same as you. What I did to solve it was disconnect the e-brake cable...this made me certain that it was the e-brake side of things. From here I found it was all in the adjustment of the e-brake cable at the adjuster under the drivers door. What was happeneing was my e-brake would not release all the way if they were even the slightest bit too tight. Up on jack stands, I kept trying it, then loosening, the trying it, then loosening until it was fuly released. No issues since.
Good luck

We need some clarification and info. Some brakes are just dusty, do you really have a problem? Is the brake actually sticking? Did you jack it up and see if the wheel turns freely? OR, after driving for a mile or so, is the rotor hot? Get your fingers close to it, you can easily feel the heat from a stuck rotor. Compare the two rear rotors.

Yes I have jacked the car up after driving it for awhile, and no the wheel will not turn, and yes the rotor is extremely hot after only a few miles of driving compared to drivers side.Drivers side will turn and is not as hot as passenger side.I have checked the e-brake cable adjustment and it is fine. The cable itself is releasing all the way,is there any way to tell if the e-brake within the caliper is releasing?

If you have ruled out the parking brake issues, there are two possibilities. One is a bad caliper (piston not retracting and letting go of the rotor) . Two is a bad rear porportioning valve that is trapping pressure in the caliper. If you open the bleeder and the brake frees up, this could be your problem.

There's another possibility, which I've heard of happening a few times: a bent/warped caliper bracket.

Obviously if the bracket gets bent the slider pins are crooked and no matter how much grease you have inside the little boot they won't budge.

Just a thought. If you've replaced everything else this may be the culprit. I replaced mine yesterday with one I pulled out of a junkyard for $10.

Good luck.
