Rattling noise!

My 95 tax has a rattling noise coming from the timeing belt area when it is running under 2 grand on the tack, after 2 grand it goes away. Scared to drive it, any suggestions?

I'm no ATX expert, but I'd be checking the crank bolt to make sure it's torqued correctly (it should be REALLY f'in tight... 113-126 ft-lbs is the spec, but you can go higher). It could be the timing belt tensioner going bad, too.

Are you sure it's not the timing belt slapping against the cover.
