So the dealer claimed my sho was missing too many items for them to confidently run tests - the only things missing were the IMRC and the appearance cover. They did say this morning that parts are hard to find and they were worried about damaging parts during tests. I think it's just a case of a sue-happy society making all businesses adjust their approach to customer service. At the end of the day, I respect the dealer's right to choose not to run a full diagnostic on my gen 3 sho. They DID tell me which cylinders were mis-firing and didn't charge me anything after all. Another non-dealer shop down the street denied me service because they were "unfamiliar" with the intake. Anyway . . .
I know of a small handful of shops nationwide willing and able to work on the sho, in my case a gen 3. Would it behoove current and future owners on this forum to generate a running list of mechanics who have done work to members' satisfaction? The v8sho cam-weld list is badly outdated. I've been planning a trip to FPS that I keep putting off as it will likely require having the car hauled there on a truck, after which we'd take a small vacation up there in our f-150 and possible get a tune for it (f-150). I know of no other shops in the southeast that would be willing to do moderately involved work.
