The past 2 days i've noticed that my clutch pedal will randomly feel soft. It happens about half the time i'm driving now. The other half it feels fine. I've also noticed a slight rubbing type of noise coming from under the hood when the car is idleing with the clutch out. It goes away when the clutch is in and i dont hear it while driving. My first thought was TOB but i thought the tob usually makes noise while driving and not while sitting still out of gear. The car goes into all the gears fine. It still accelerates fine and there isnt any hint of the clutch slipping. Other than the soft pedal from time to time i havent noticed any change in performance. Any thoughts on this?

Oh, by the way, this is on my 91. It has 118k and for all i know its the original clutch.

It sounds to me like your TOB is giving you advance notice it's nearing end of life. One day the clutch pedal will feel like its not doing anything until the bottom of the stroke and it will grind going into gear. The TOB is the first component to go when a SHO clutch wears out.
